Client Focus

Client-Focused Problem Solving

image

Our mission is to assist in solving your site-specific problem, not to sell you any specific product or process.  We understand that the needs of each project hinge on a wide range of non-technical issues as well as on the technical issues.  For example, we have extensive international experience, where the key to bringing value to a project is to adapt your previous experience to a new situation, rather than impose a boilerplate approach.

We have performed many unique projects, and have a wide range of experience that you can draw upon.  Think of us as an outlet for environmental management support, as well as top-flight technical resources.

While we are technical experts, we are also focused on non-technical aspects of projects.  Our technical services are guided by our experience and expertise in the following service areas:

  • Regulatory process management and negotiation
  • Consensus / coordination of multiple parties
  • Aligning project goals to bigger picture objectives
  • Public presentations and public participation
  • Litigation support and expert testimony
  • International technology transfer

Aquifer Solutions, Inc. Specializes in Problem Solving!

Problem-Solving Results That We Have Achieved Include:

Aquifer Solutions achieved regulatory closure (no further action) of legacy obligations at a former industrial facility, following recovery of 23,000 gallons of viscous #6 oil dense non-aqueous phse liquid (DNAPL).  The project was completed under budget and ahead of schedule.  We provided turnkey design-build services and adopted an innovative technical approach to remediating the viscous oil.  Unbiased technology selection, informed planning, and disciplined design and execution were keys to success.

CraneA multi-party conflict existed for 10 years over the source of a contaminant plume, and was nearing litigation.  We developed consensus among the parties for an investigation work scope to ensure acceptance of the results by all parties and the regulatory community.  Geochemical fingerprinting was used to clearly delineated the source, resolving the conflict and allowing the project to proceed toward remediation without unnecessary litigation.

A US DOE weapons facility determined that all previously proven remediation approaches were infeasible for their contaminants and setting.  We reviewed a range of innovative and emerging treatment technologies.  We designed and performed lab and field treatability tests to demonstrate to stakeholders that these alternatives were possibly feasible.  With our continued assistance, the facility has generated positive full scale treatment results with these technologies that ten years ago were not even available for consideration.

An industrial PRP client hired Aquifer Solutions to design and implement in situ chemical oxidation as a means to control off site migration of chlorinated solvents.  After a pilot-phase of in situ treatment, we recognized that a different technology would be more effective based on the site specific conditions.  We then applied in situ bioremediation at the site, which is more effectively controlling the groundwater plume.

A family-trust owned industrial PRP without prior environmental management experience was faced with the difficult choice of selecting a remediation contractor to prepare their site for a transfer of ownership.  Aquifer Solutions was selected to perform the project, because we developed an overall project strategy that defined the complete path to regulatory closure.  By focusing first on the big-picture issue of site strategy, Aquifer Solutions was able to help the client understand and become more comfortable with the site cleanup process.  As the project has progressed, our technology-independent approach has resulted in a balanced and very cost-effective technical remediation approach that integrates several different treatment technologies, including monitoring of natural attenuation.
