• Approach each site with a fresh perspective, where all potential technologies and configurations (i.e. barrier vs. area-wide treatment vs. no action) are considered.
• Be mindful of the project goals, regulatory environment, site geochemistry/geohydrology, contaminant characteristics, and treatment chemistry before selecting a treatment approach.
• Determine the amendment dose and volume requirements quantitatively, and be informed and realistic to avoid under-dosing or over-dosing.
• Design for subsurface amendment delivery/transport quantitatively using multiple, parallel design approaches that realistically account for a range of variability and uncertainty in both the site conditions and the amendment and contaminant reaction stoichiometry and kinetics.

Example of our design work

Numerical modeling of subsurface heating using hot water injection. Proprietary analytical thermodynamic model predictions were within about 2% of the numerical modeling. After startup, in real-life we obtained heat breakthrough in 25 days, which closely matched the prediction of 21 days. We recovered over 20,000 gallons of viscous DNAPL at this site and achieved a No Further Action regulatory closure!	Engineering Process Designs that really work!
	Field execution with discipline, practicality, and 100% commitment to safety!  In this case, with secondary containment of amendment, and appropriate PPE.
	Using Both Analytical and Numerical Modeling to Constrain the Expected Subsurface Transport/Delivery of a Highly Reactive Chemical Reductant. Amendment reaction kinetics were calibrated to bench-test column breakthrough curves. Field results for amendment delivery were very similar to these predictions.
